Candidate Form for Positions in StInn
Appointed by the Presidium on May 22nd
For these positions, you have to use this candidate form.
Student representative in the Suitability Committee
INN has several study programs where students are educated to work with vulnerable people or groups, for example children and patients. In these programs, students are continuously assessed on whether they are suitable for the profession. A student who is considered a possible risk to people they meet in practice or in their future job is deemed unsuitable and may be excluded from the education.
If someone believes that a student is unsuitable for the profession, the case is handled by the Suitability Committee at the university, which then submits a recommendation to the Appeal Board, which makes the final decision.
The Suitability Committee consists of two academic leaders at the university, two academic staff, two student representatives, two representatives from the practice field, and one external member with a law degree. The committee only meets when there is a case to process.
New members will receive training in the work of the Suitability Committee.
Number of positions: 2 main
Appointment: Proposed by the Presidium in StInn by 1 May, and appointed by the University Board at INN at the board meeting in May or June.
Term of office: From 1 July to 30 June
Student representative in the Education Committee
In the Education Committee (UU), the creation of new study programs is approved, as well as major changes to existing ones. Quality reports from each faculty are collected into the institution’s overall education quality report, which the Education Committee gives input on.
Student representatives have an important voice because they represent the students in all the cases being handled. This includes giving input to the institution’s education quality report, advising on how to further develop the international work in the study programs, and discussing how relevant the studies are and what kind of competence they give for working life and society. The Education Committee usually meets about once a month.
Number of positions: 2 main + 2 deputy (1 main + 1 deputy reserved for the Executive Committee (AU) in StInn)
Term of office: From 1 July to 30 June
Student representative in the Appeal Board
The Appeal Board handles and decides cases reported from the faculties that deal with suspected cheating and remarks on police certificates. The board also makes decisions in suitability cases that are sent from the Suitability Committee.
The Appeal Board is also the appeals body for students when it comes to individual decisions made by different units at the university.
The Appeal Board is led by a judge from the Court of Appeal, and also consists of two academic staff members and two student representatives. All members of the board have a personal deputy.
The board meets once a month. Being part of the board means you have to attend meetings, read and prepare the incoming cases, and work together with the other members to reach conclusions in each case. The meetings are held digitally.
New members receive training in the work of the board. For student representatives, the position is paid, and you can also receive a certificate for your work in the board.

Term of office: From 1 July to 30 June
Student representative in the Committee for Cooperation with Working Life
The purpose of the Committee for Cooperation with Working Life (RSA) is to strengthen and structure the university’s cooperation with employers and the labour market. The goal is to make sure research activity and the study portfolio are developed in line with society’s needs and based on relevant, up-to-date knowledge.
Student representatives in the committee work together with the Rector, Vice-Rector, Pro-Rector for Community Relations, and a number of leaders and directors from working life in Inland Norway. The committee meets twice a year, with the option of additional meetings if needed.

As a student representative, you’ll receive training in the regulations, and together with the other members of the committee you’ll make sure that all cases are handled in line with current laws and internal rules. In addition, you bring the student perspective into the committee’s assessment of candidates, especially regarding teaching quality, pedagogical competence and relevance for the students’ learning environment.
The Appointment Committee meets digitally every other Wednesday in odd-numbered weeks. The deputy representative is expected to attend the meetings and act as a support for the main representative. These positions are not paid.

Student representative in the eMERGE Student Forum
As part of University of Inland Norway’s (INN) membership in the EMERGE alliance, our students must also be represented. This happens through the eMERGE Student Forum, which is a shared student democracy for all the alliance universities. Each member university appoints two students to the eMERGE Student Forum Steering Committee, which is the highest body in the eMERGE Student Forum. At INN, the International Policy Officer of the Executive Committee (AU) is automatically one of these two members, and the second member is elected by the Presidium (SST).
In this position, you get the chance to represent the students at University of Inland Norway (INN) in internationalization matters related to the university alliance, including topics like student mobility and in-/outgoing exchange opportunities. You’ll be able to build connections across borders, and you might even get to travel to one of the other alliance universities.
You also have the opportunity to run for a position in the eMERGE Student Forum Advisory Committee, which works even more closely with the Forum’s activities.

StInn has many documents that state what we stand for and how the work in the organization should be carried out. It’s not easy to have an overview of everything, and sometimes what’s written can be unclear or incomplete. In these cases, it’s the members of the Control and Constitutional Committee (KKU) who save the day by finding the right paragraphs or giving an interpretation the rest of the organization can use as a reference.
