Immigration after arrival for exchange students
Upon arrival in Norway, you must complete certain steps in the immigration process, depending on your citizenship and the duration of your exchange at our university.
What applies to me?
What you have to do after arrival depends on your nationality. Follow the buttons below for your nationality to get a detailed description of how to complete your registration in Norway.
If you cannot go to your appointment or missed your appointment
Here you can find information on what to do if the International Office in Evenstad, Hamar, and Lillehammer have booked a Police appointment for you.
Cannot attend the scheduled appointment
If you cannot attend the appointment at the scheduled time due to a mandatory lecture/seminar/other reasons, you will need to switch appointments with someone else. If you feel sick before your appointment, consider rescheduling with someone else.
If you have successfully switched appointments, the person with the earliest appointment must notify the police upon arrival that the switch has been made.
If you arrive later than your appointment, and you cannot switch with another student, you will have to book an appointment yourself.
Missed appointments
If you missed your appointment, or there are no other students you can switch with, you have to book a new Police appointment yourself.
- Go to the webpage where you completed your study permit application (non-EU/EEA citizens) or where you completed the online registration (EU/EEA citizens).
- Apply for a Police appointment by following the steps given.
- Remember to choose the Police Station closest to your campus.
- It is recommended to show "First available appointment" to find a suitable appointment.
- Get a booking confirmation to your email. Your booking number is also stated there.
