References

A reference describes the different types of teaching materials to be found in your reading list. Most commonly these will be books, book chapters, journal articles and websites. Material type will always be shown at the beginning of each reference.

It is important to note what exactly you are supposed to read. Which pages or chapters that are compulsory reading you will see at the top of the window below, described as "Page range" or as "Note".

How to access the syllabus literature

The required reading materials usually consist of a mix of digital texts and physical books.

Students are expected to obtain their own course literature.

Digital Course Texts

If the course text (reference) is available electronically, the text "View online" will be visible. The text will either be attached as a PDF file or accessible online via a link. Click on "View online" and select the database/source you want to use to open the article/resource.

What if I am denied access?

Students and faculty members at INN have access to electronic resources subscribed to by the library, even when using other networks than the campus network.
If you are using a network other than that at INN, you will be prompted to log on with Feide to gain access to these electronic resources.

Buy curricular books

Borrow curricular books

The library has a limited number of copies of the required textbooks. Some copies can be borrowed for home use, while others can only be read at the library.

Check if the books are available at the library

The reading list in Canvas is linked to the library's search tool, Oria.
Click on "Available at Universitetsbiblioteket" to see where the book can be found on the shelves, and/or whether there are copies available for loan.

'Lenker & tilgjengelighet' will show you if and where the book is available. If the book is available at your campus, please visit the library and pick up the book yourself. Otherwise you may request it.
