Semester fee

It might take up to 5 business days from the time an invoice is paid in the online bank until the payment is registered in our systems. The university obtains payment information from our bank every business day.

About the semester fee

Deadline for paying the semester fee:

  • for the autumn semester: 1 September
  • for the spring semester: 15 January

The semester fee for 2026/2027 is a total of NOK 1040,- per term. The fee consists of:

  • Semester fee: NOK 700,-
  • ICT-fee: NOK 88,-
  • Kopinor-fee: NOK 202,-
  • SAIH/Namibia: NOK 50,- (voluntary)

The support to Norwegian Students' and Academics' International Assistance Fund (SAIH) for the autumn semester and the Namibia Association (Namibiaforeningen) for the spring semester are both voluntary contributions. If you do not wish to support these projects, NOK 50,- can be deducted from the invoice. Then you will pay NOK 990,-.

Why pay the semester fee?

A paid semester fee is a prerequisite to:

  • be registered as an active student
  • get a loan from Lånekassen
  • gain access to INN University’s ICT-services, for example, Studentweb, Canvas and Inspera.
  • be able to present yourself at exams and retake your exam
  • have a valid student card
  • have a right to vote for INN University’s and the students’ administrative bodies
  • gain access to the students association’s social welfare services
  • print and copy from INN University’s copy machines
  • gain access to library services

The validity of the semester fee

A paid semester fee is valid until and including September 15 for the spring semester and until and including February 15 for the autumn semester. This means that if you are taking a final exam before these dates, you do not have to pay the term fee for the coming semester.

Semester fee will be exempt for PhD students and incoming exchange students.

Copy of your invoice or a receipt for payment

Your invoice will be available as a PDF in Studentweb for the entire current semester. This means you can save the invoice on your own device for later use.

If you need documentation of fees paid from previous semesters, we ask that you retrieve payment information from your online bank. You will need to find the relevant payment in your online bank, click for the receipt, and then download a PDF of the payment with all invoice details.

Refund application

If you have paid too much, you will automatically be refunded the extra amount.

You will be refunded your paid fees for the current semester if by September 1st for the autumn semester or by February 1st for the spring semester you have:

  • withdrawn from your study place
  • discontinued your studies
  • completed your studies
  • had your study rights revoked
  • been suspended

These groups of students do not need to apply for a refund. Refunds will start from mid-September/February onwards.

If you withdraw or discontinue your studies, complete your studies, have your study rights revoked, or are suspended after the specified deadlines, you will not be refunded the paid fees.

If you are on leave and have paid the semester fee, you will not be refunded the paid fees either, as you will have access to take exams and have rights through the student welfare organization.

If you did not deduct the voluntary amount to SAIH on the invoice but paid this fee and later want a refund for it, you must apply for a refund directly from SAIH.

Is the semester fee paid at another Norwegian institution?

The fee for the student welfare organization is to be paid only once each semester, even if you are a student at several universities.

If you have paid a semester fee to another Norwegian institution for higher education, you must send us a documentation of this. We will then withdraw the semester fee to the Student Association, but you still have to pay the Kopinor and ICT-fees for your studies at INN University.

If you have paid the semester fee to the student welfare organization both at INN and another institution, you can apply for a refund of this fee from one of the institutions. It is common to pay the fee to the welfare organization where you live and earn the most credits. The deadline to apply for a refund is September 1st for the autumn semester and February 1st for the spring semester.

Documentation must be a copy of the invoice from Studentweb showing that you have paid the fee to the student welfare organization at another Norwegian institution for higher education for the relevant semester.

Application with documentation can be sent to giro@inn.no
