About ENRI
Eastern Norway Research Institute (ENRI) is headquartered in Lillehammer and has an office in Hamar. The research environment is interdisciplinary, and the staff have extensive experience in commissioned and grant-funded research.

About us
ENRI has a total of 17 academic staff with advanced degrees in social sciences, humanities, agricultural sciences, and engineering. Additionally, the institute engages researchers on a project basis.
Projects
ENRI works on a range of projects, from long-term research initiatives to research-based studies, evaluations, and consultancy. Examples of long-term programme research funded by the EU and others include the Horizon 2020 project 'Matilde' (2019-2023), 'Bærekraftige Opplevelser i Reiselivet', the Erasmus+ project 'Innovation Clusters for Entrepreneurship Education' (2015-2018), and the Horizon 2020 project SIMRA (2016-2019).
In other projects, ENRI plays a research and development role, involving close collaboration with project actors. Examples include the 'Folkehelseprogrammet', the RFF projects 'CreaTur' and 'Ipaaski', and larger process evaluations such as for the national project 'Menn i helse' (2016-2018).
Additionally, a significant part of our work is contract-based. This means we compete for assignments advertised by ministries, directorates, county councils, municipalities, business entities, and organisations.
Strategy
The overarching focus area is regional development, particularly in mountainous regions, across a broad range of thematic areas. These include tourism, experience industries, second homes, regional analysis and planning, business development, the sharing economy, public welfare services including public health and living standards, education and social services, entrepreneurship in primary education, and innovation in the public sector. Relevant perspectives include innovation, sustainability, and digitalisation.
ENRI is also a key partner in KOI (Competence Centre for Public Innovation), the Centre for Tourism Research, the Centre for Entrepreneurship in Primary Education, and the Mountain Research Network (Fjell-Forsk-Nett).
History
ENRI was established in 1984 and was operated under the 'Stiftelsen Østlandsforskning' (Østlandsforskning Foundation) until 2011, when Østlandsforskning AS took over the research activities.
The shareholders of Østlandsforskning AS were the Stiftelsen Østlandsforskning, Hedmark County Council, Oppland County Council, Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences, and SpareBank 1 Østlandet.
The company's purpose is to organise, conduct, and disseminate research, as well as investigative and developmental work. The company aims to carry out research with high relevance for the relevant user groups and with the quality typically expected of applied research.
In September 2018, the King in Council decided that the activities could be transferred to INN University effective from 1 January 2019.
