"I study in the bachelor's programme for Game Technology, and I get to do really advanced coding. My favourite thing about the Game School is that you can specialise from the very beginning – in either game tech or game art," says Jonas Valstar.
The Game School at the University of Inland Norway is one of the leading institutions for game development in the country. It is located in Hamar, a beautiful lake city only one hour from Oslo.
"And the student living accomodation is only like 100 meters from the campus, and in the middle of the city centre! This is a really nice arrangement that makes student life easy, accessible and fun. It is 'supermakkelijk', as we say in Dutch," continues Flo den Haan.
"You really get the feeling that the teachers want to help you succeed, and they are super kind and available," says Flo den Haan.

Hamar is a beautful and urban city, that is also surrounded by nature. It has about 30,000 inhabitants.

Flo is a bachelor's student in Game Art and Animation. Both her and Jonas are 20 years old and made the same decision to move further north to pursue their interests in game development.
"When I saw that they offered courses in concept art, I immediately applied. It is my dream to be a concept artist," says Flo.
At the Game School, coders and artists work constantly together on projects, allowing the students to work just like in a production studio in the industry. The school also owns the largest Motion Capture studio in Norway, and Hamar is home to several game companies.
"It is no secret that the nature in Norway is beautiful as well. Here, you can enjoy the lake, forests and mountains, and you can go hiking right from your door. I specifically chose to study in the Nordics because of this," says Jonas.
There seems to be many good reasons to study in Hamar. Would you like to study at the Game School?
The application deadline for EU students is 15 April.
