About the Programme

This study program is designed for both students and employees in higher education who aim to achieve a B2 level in Norwegian, gaining the competence and skills needed to pursue studies in Norwegian or enter the Norwegian job market. University students with Norwegian as a second language may find courses 3 and 4 particularly beneficial.

Practical training in oral and written Norwegian language is combined with an introduction to Norwegian society and culture. We start with the basics, so no prior knowledge of Norwegian is required. However, you will have to document your Higher Education Entrance Qualification, including English language proficiency.

Since the program is part-time, spanning two years with one 15 ECTS course per semester, it can be combined with work or other studies.

Curricula and courses

The program consists of four courses, each worth 15 ECTS credits, and each concludes with oral and written exams. The course Norwegian Language and Culture, Level 1 provides an A2 level, Norwegian Language and Culture, Level 2 provides a B1 level, and the two courses Norwegian Language and Culture, Level 3.1 and 3.2 provide a B2 level. Direct admission to Level 2 or 3 will be possible upon documentation of a certain proficiency level in Norwegian.

The curriculum provides information about courses, learning objectives, and assessment methods. Choose the curriculum for the year you started the program to find the relevant details.

About Gatherings and Attendance

The study program is online-based, for more information please view the course descriptions for details about teaching and learning methods. Additional information will be provided in the beginning of the semester in the study platform Canvas.
