Requirements for the admission test

If you have questions regarding the admission test, please contact Ørjan Svendsen.

  1. Completed questionnaire and motivational letter
  2. Portfolio submission
  3. Your diplomas, transcripts of records and certificates are to be uploaded on Samordna opptak (for all applicants with upper secondary education from the Nordic countries), or in the application portal (for all applicants with upper secondary education from outside the Nordic countries), and not in the entrance exam form

Your upper secondary education, questionnaire and portfolio form the basis for the admission. Where the committee sees the need, applicants may also be called in for an online video call, before a final decision on admission is made.

Throughout the admission process, we will look for potential, engagement, and the willingness to develop both oneself and the field. Applicants will be evaluated based on a range of criteria, which include: creativity, ambition, motivation, artistic and design maturity, ability to experiment, ability for analytical and conceptual thinking, sense of form and color, skills and experience in drawing/visualization, written and oral articulation skills, ability to collaborate, and social awareness.

Below you will find some more specifics about the entrance exam form:

Questionaire and Motivational Letter

You will first fill out a form regarding your interests and ambitions. Then you will write a motivational letter with your expectations for your studies, your motivation for studying the programme, what you wish to use your education for upon completing the degree, and your experiences with video games in general.

Portfolio

For this part you must show us a portfolio containing your own original work relevant to the degree. This could be 2D Art, 3D Art, Animation, Tech Art or other related work. The work should be uploaded and viewable online and shown in a format relevant to its content; like an Artstation page, a youtube video etc. You must provide a URL/link to the content, not send the work itself.

The work should be recent enough to represent your current skill level, but you are not required to create something new for this portfolio submission. What we are looking for is originality, visual thinking, mood, and effort — not perfection.

Plagiarism

When you submit your admission test, please be aware that submitting someone else's work, and/or work generated by artificial intelligence (AI) as your own, is plagiarism and illegal, and will result in any decision made about admission to the program, being reversed.
