Upon returning home

There might be a few things you need to do and be aware of after you have completed your exchange and returned home.

Transcript of Records

Here you can find specific information for your Transcript of Records.

How to get the Transcript

The final Transcript of Records will be emailed to the students' home institution by the International Office at the end of the semester. It will not be sent to the student directly. Students do not need to request it. Some institutions will also receive physical copies. The International Office signs and stamps these transcripts, which are valid physically and digitally.

  • Autumn semester students:
    • Transcripts will be created sometime between mid-January and early February.
  • Spring semester students:
    • Transcripts will be created sometime between June and early July.
  • Academic year students (August-June):
    • Transcripts will be created sometime between mid-June and early July.
  • Full-year students (January-December):
    • Transcripts will be created sometime between mid-January and early February.

For students enrolled in a credit-given internship at INN, contact the International Office for information on the Transcript of Records.

Two-semester students

Students enrolled for two semesters will only receive their official Transcript at the end of their stay. If you need a Transcript of Records from your first semester, please request this by email to the International Office, as they are only created upon request. Drop by the International Office to pick up the Transcript.

Retaking an exam or appealing against the grade - how to get the updated Transcript

Information on how to get an updated Transcript can be found on our exam pages for exchange students.

What is included in the Transcript?

Your Transcript will only include courses that you have passed and completed. Failed or incomplete courses will not be shown on your Transcript. We cannot change, add to, or remove any information from the Transcript.

  • We will announce by email when the Transcripts have been created and sent.
  • If you retake an exam and pass, a new, original version of the Transcript will be created and sent to your home institution after the results are published.

You are responsible for letting your home institution know why a course is not on your Transcript, if you will retake an exam or have appealed against the grade.

What to be aware of after returning home

Please view the following drop-down list. Some of your questions might also be answered on the webpage before leaving INN. If you cannot find the information you need for your question(s), please contact the International Office on your campus.

Confirmation from your home institution/scholarship (mainly Erasmus+/SEMP/EEA Grant students)

Did you remember to get your Confirmation of Departure/Stay/Attendance Certificate or a similar document signed by INN? Most European institutions require this document as part of the final assignment before awarding the final part of the scholarship (especially for Erasmus+ institutions). Some government or regional scholarship programs also require such a document to confirm that you have completed your exchange.

If this document must be completed, and the International Office at INN has not yet signed it, send it to the International Advisor at your INN campus by email. When signed and stamped, it will be emailed to you.

Please be aware of the following:

  • Complete the document as much as possible with your name, home institution and more.
  • If your document has a departure date, final exam date, or end-of-semester date, add it or inform us of it. If your document does not say what date you must write, please check with your home institution.
  • If the wrong date is stated, you may be asked by your home institution to redo the document.

Double Degree Diploma

This information is only relevant to Double Degree students from ZHAW (Switzerland).

When you have completed your degree at your home institution, the International Office at ZHAW will send your Diploma to the International Office at INN. The Double Degree Diploma from INN will then be created. A digital copy of the diploma will be sent to your home institution.

Depending on the arrangement with your home institution, the Diploma will either be sent by post to your home institution or directly to you. We will provide information on this when the Diploma has been created.

Recognition or credit conversion at your home institution

Please note that INN does not convert the grades you have received at INN to the grading system at your home institution. Contact your home institution for information on this process.

Student stories

Exchange students across all four campuses will receive an invitation to participate in the "Student Stories" survey shortly after their exchange. The survey will ask about their exchange stay at INN, and students will have the chance to add photos (if they wish) from their time at INN.

Students will have the chance to say yes or no to whether the story can be published on our exchange webpages and other relevant pages. They will also be asked whether the International Office and the Communication department can use the submitted photos (if added) for promotional purposes on our webpages, Instagram, in information documents, flyers, and similar materials.

Students can choose not to participate, but we would be happy to share their experiences. Please note that we will only publish a limited number of stories on our website each semester, so a selection might be made if necessary.

Check out the stories from our previous exchange students!
