Unsure if you want to go abroad? Check out our reasons why you should take the leap:
How to go abroad?
Here is information about the process leading up to the application deadline for study mobility. If you want more details about what happens after the deadline, check the Check list for study mobility.
Step 1: Explore your possibilities
Find out when and where you can go:
- Check your study plan to see what it says about mobility (internationalization) and which semester you can travel.
- Before exploring your options in the destination search, read about the various funding and mobility agreements available to you. This will provide information on what additional grants may be available.
- In the destination search, pay attention to any requirements for language proficiency or grade averages at the various destinations.
Feeling unsure?
If you are uncertain about whether to go abroad, we recommend scheduling a guidance session and submitting your application by the deadline anyway. During the process, you will typically gain a stronger sense of what feels right for you. After the application deadline has passed, it may no longer be guaranteed that you can go abroad.
Step 2: Schedule a guidance session
It is highly recommended that you book a meeting with an international coordinator before the application deadline. This will give you detailed information about the destinations you are interested in. You will also receive help in determining which destination best suits you in terms of course offerings, finances, culture, and language. On some of our partner institutions' websites, it can be challenging to find information about the English-taught course offerings. However, your international coordinator will be able to assist you in locating this information.
Step 3: Application deadlines and application form
Application deadlines
Complete the correct application form according to the campus of study. Application deadlines:
- 15 February for mobility in the autumn semester
- 15 September for mobility in the spring semester
Note: Some destinations/mobility programs have different deadlines, which will be specified on the destination pages.
Application form
Choose three destinations you are interested in. Rank them as your first, second, and third priority based on your preferences. Keep in mind that not everyone is guaranteed their first choice, as placement depends on availability and qualifications.
Submit the application form for your campus by the deadline.
(Application form for exchange in autumn 2027 will be available around the new year, when the application period opens).
Step 4: Wait for a response
The International Office processes all applications after the deadline. You can expect a response within two weeks after the deadline.
Step 5: After approved application
If you are offered a spot after INN’s internal application process, you will be invited to several meetings related to your mobility. Your international coordinator will follow up with you, providing more information about the next steps. However, it is your responsibility to complete all steps and ensure everything is in order before departure. For the next steps, see the Check list:
