CREDS will accelerate the research on the transition enabling sustainable businesses and societies

Sustainability and digitalization can have synergistic effects, and the center can contribute to increasing the understanding of how Norway's transition in the green shift can help achieve the goal of climate neutrality by 2050. The research will also support sustainable value creation that strengthens the region's and Norway's competitiveness.

Purpose

The overall goal of establishing the Center for Sustainability and Digitalization is to strengthen the level of knowledge and education in the region, increase value creation and the number of green jobs, and thereby contribute to growth in Innlandet.

The research center will conduct interdisciplinary and applied research to address complex challenges related to the green shift and digital transformation. The center's activities will help address the challenges faced by the private and public sectors. The center will assist businesses in contributing knowledge at the individual, industry, and societal levels.

The research center has close collaboration with the business community regionally in Kongsvinger and Innlandet, but also has ambitions for national cooperation. These collaborations will contribute knowledge about transition to promote value creation, including better resource utilization and job security. Integrating the environment and sustainability into business activities will be essential for maintaining competitiveness.

The center will:

  • Support the ambitions for the establishment of a university in Innlandet with research-based expertise in internationally attractive focus areas.
  • Support existing doctoral programs at INN University / the School of Business and play a national role in research, education, and innovation in sustainability, circular economy, and digital transformation.
  • Develop new knowledge-based businesses in digital leadership and sustainability (recruitment of knowledge-based companies and establishment of spin-offs from existing companies).
    • Further develop Innlandet's bioindustry and enable increased industrial production from Innlandet's bioresources.
    • Strengthen other existing industries in Innlandet and increase the possibility of bringing industrial production back from low-cost countries.
    • Lay the foundation for green investments in Innlandet.
  • Strengthen the public sector in Innlandet as a community developer through increased competence in sustainability and circular economy.
