Faglige interesser

Gerd Wikan er samfunnsgeograf med fattigdoms- og utviklingsstudier som ett av forskningsfeltene. Utdanningsforskning og lærerutdanningsforskning er et annet forskningsområde. For tiden arbeider hun særlig med problemstillinger knyttet til internasjonalisering av lærerutdanningen i Norge. Stikkord er internasjonal utveksling, interkulturell og global kompetanse.
