Back from the brink: Strategies to tackle the crisis in educating diverse learners

Drawing on research-based evidence Dr Mitchell will provide a blueprint for an education system which will recognise the rights of all students. He will broaden the scope of inclusive education to present an ecological model – a system which places children at its centre and recognises the impacts of school, community, bureacracy and society. The goal is to ensure that students have oppportunities to achieve the same levels of attainment, regardless of their gender, socio-economic status, ethnicity, religious beliefs or disability. He will draw upon his 2017 book, Diversities in education: Effective ways to reach all learners, and his forthcoming 2018 book, The ecology of inclusive education: Tackling the crisis in educating diverse learners. Both of these books have been translated into Danish and published by Dafolo.
