About the programme

The PPE programme (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) is a well-established and internationally recognised bachelor's degree. The combination of philosophy, political science, and economics was first introduced at the University of Oxford in the 1920s. The aim of this interdisciplinary approach is to provide three distinct yet complementary perspectives on pressing societal issues. These include questions related to climate change, environmental degradation, inequality, war, and migration. Understanding and meeting such challenges require insights from all three fields.

At the University of Inland Norway's programme, we have a dedicated and highly competent academic staff consisting of internationally renowned researchers (see the list of affiliated academic staff on the department's website). There is close collaboration between the faculty members in philosophy, political science, and economics to create a cohesive programme where the three disciplines are integrated into a unified whole.

We admit relatively few students (maximum 30), so that students can benefit from close follow-up by the academic staff and form a strong community among themselves. And Lillehammer is known for its vibrant and welcoming student environment.

What can I be

A bachelor's degree in PPE equips you with skills that are sought after in a wide range of sectors, including the cultural and publishing industries, political and non-governmental organisations, business, and public administration. These competencies include analytical abilities, the capacity to handle complex information, and the ability to approach issues from diverse theoretical perspectives.

Study environment

The PPE programme launched in autumn 2024, and students have already established an active academic and social environment. There is strong engagement within the student association — check out their Instagram: @fpolillehammer.
