List of countries
If your upper secondary education is from a country outside of Europe, please view the list on our webpage for worldwide countries.
If you are applying for a bachelor's degree, please consult the GSU list to find the English requirement.
The countries in the list below meet the language requirements for our English taught master's degree programmes, with subjects at a certain level from upper secondary school.
Austria
- English at Reifeprüfung, Matura or Reifeprüfungszeugnis (from AHS)
- Minimum grade required: 2 or better
Belgium
Flemish
- English passed from ASO (Algemeen Secundair Education) meets the requirement
French
- English is covered with English at General secondary education (Certificate d'Enseignement Secondaire Supérieur)
- Minimum grade required: 15
Bulgaria
- English is covered with English as 1st foreign language at Diploma za Sredno Obrazovanie (Диплома за средно образование)
- Minimum grade required: Mnogu dobur
Estonia
One of the following:
- English foreign language B1 or B2 from Löputunnistus
- Minimum grade required: 5.0 (2014 onwards)
- State exam in English (Riigieksamitunnistus)
- Minimum grade required: 58% or better (exam taken 1997-2001 and 2014 onwards) or 61% or better (exam taken 2002-2013)
European Baccalaureate (EB)
- English as Language 1 or Language 2 with a final mark of at least 7,5.
France
- English is covered in English on the diploma from upper secondary school (baccalauréat)
- Minimum grade required: 11 or better
Germany
- English at Zeugnis der Allgemeinen Hochschulreife (Abitur)
- Minimum grade required: average of at least 10 points
Hungary
- High school after 2005: English specialisation, emelt szintu erettsegi vizsga
- Minimum grade required: 4 (Jo) or better
International Baccalaureate (IB)
One of the following:
- English B: 5
- English A: 3
Latvia
- Exam in English from Vispārējās vidējās izglītības sertifikāts (taken in 2013 or later)
- Minimum grade required: 70% (B2- or C1-level)
Lithuania
One of the following:
- English at B1 level on your Brandos atestato priedas (2013 onwards)
- Minimum grade required: 8,26 average grade (not including state exam grades)
- English at B2 level on your Brandos atestato priedas (2013 onwards)
- Minimum grade required: 4 or better
The Netherlands
One of the following:
- VWO
- Minimum grade required: 6 or better
- HAVO
- Minimum grade required: 7 or better
Poland
- English Specialisation, poziom rozszerzony on the diploma from upper secondary school after 2005
- Minimum grade required: Dobry
Romania
- English from DdB with at least B2 level on all five sub-samples
Slovakia
- 2005 onwards: English on Vysvédcenie o maturitnej skúške
- Minimum grade required: 67 % on the exam (if you have more than one English exam, the average grade must be at least 67 %)
Slovenia
- English as the first foreign language at Spričevalo o splošni maturi or Spričevalo o poklicni Maturi
- Minimum grade required: Prav dobro / 4
Switzerland
- English on Maturitätszeugnis, Certificat de Maturité, Baccalauréat or Attesto di Maturità
- Minimum grade required: 5 or better
