NVIVO - a method for analysis of qualititative data in Research & Development
The software package NVIVO is a feasible, comprehensive and versatile tool for researchers to have qualitative data and material coded, analysed and reported for a variety of purposes. One may import material and data in many formats; interviews or other events as transcripts, sound-files or video, public documents, letters, social media.
The course will give an overview of how to handle this abundance of material, process and analyse them and produce reports for research papers and other publications.

About the Programme
Goal:
The goal is to handle the most important functions in NVIVO, and gain an understanding of its proper and productive use in research and development work.
Learning outcomes:
Important learning outcomes is getting to know the setup of NVIVO and the basic – and some advanced functions – of this software and learning how to handle files and sets/subsets of data, and present them for other researchers or collaborators. Ethical issues and principles of coding, assessment of usability of various types of searches are important.
Assessment:
The participants produce a report in NVIVO about the essential workings of the software for classification, coding, organising variables, creating memos and building models, preferably applied to the participants’ own material. An explanatory essay (max 1500 words) must support the NVIVO-report. The grading is passed/non-passed
Teaching plan: Week 43, October 24 - 27
