Mål for prosjektet
The aim is to study to make a contribution to the understanding of the dynamics of the contemporary music economy.
The research group Music Business has an exciting collaboration with the global music streaming service Deezer. The consortium also includes researchers from Université Sorbonne Paris Nord in France and Queensland University of Technology in Australia.
A central theme of the research work is the "settlement model", i.e., the distribution key that dictates how revenues are shared among the artists who offer their music via streaming services. In Norway, the debate around this topic has been ongoing for nearly a decade, but international mainstream media have also taken an interest over time.
Such settlement models have proven to be far more unpredictable than many might have initially thought, for example, in the form of various unintended (side) effects.
