More about the research group

Sound generally relates to storytelling and audio-visual arts within the Film, Game and TV schools. As such, the research group is interested in all aspects of sound design, audio-vision, and sound and music for film, TV and games. From this platform, the research group extends further towards sound art, sonic arts, sonic studies and immersive audio, but with a profile in film and games that sets it apart from other sound-related research environments in Norway within arts and music education.

Core research questions in the coming years relates to the field of enquiry within the “Portal to New Worlds of Sound” research project:  What are the emerging artistic expressive potentials that engage with 3D audio and operate

  • between real and virtual space
  • between music and sound design (integrated scores), and
  • between sonic arts and film in the expanded field?

In addition to strengthening research in sound and sound design related to education at the Film, Game, and TV Schools, the research group seeks to connect researchers across faculties at INN working within sound and music, believing that there is a still untapped inter-faculty potential for artistic research and sound at INN.
