The changes will affect road users, residents and public transport in the area.
The closure is necessary for building a new railway culvert and for upgrading highway E6 between Lillehammer Junction and Fåberg Tunnel. The work is being coordinated with a planned break in the Dovre Line, and is being carried out in close cooperation with affected parties.
How traffic is affected
Traffic will be rerouted from week 37 to week 42. While work is being carried out on E6, detours will be marked via road no. 2522. Detour alternatives will be clearly signposted along the road, on information boards and via vegvesen.no/trafikk.
During the period of E6 being is temporarily rerouted, all road users must adapt to a new driving pattern. The speed limit on E6 between Storhove and Nordhove will be temporarily reduced to 60 km/h. At the new temporary roundabout at Nordhove, the speed will be further reduced to ensure safety.
It is recommended to allow some extra time for your journey and be aware of changes in the traffic pattern. When E6 reopens, traffic will continue to flow as normal past the construction area.
Public transport
- Bus lanes at the University and south of it towards Lillehammer will be maintained.
- Bus lanes between Nordhove and the University will be closed in both directions. Travelers are directed to Smerudgrinda, approximately 400 meters north of Nordhove.
- Other travelers are advised to use the bus stop at the University.
- School transportation will operate as normal.
Pedestrian and cycle paths will function as they do today. Road users are encouraged to use the underpass at the University for safe crossing of the road.
Increased traffic and noise: residents along county road 2522 will notice increased traffic in the neighbourhood, and there may be more noise from the construction work than usual during this period. Project manager Anja Krohn Bjørnstad at AF Group says that they understand that this can be demanding, but that the work is necessary to complete new highway E6.
