Traineeship during your studies at INN
Do you have a traineeship or fieldwork as part of your degree? If so, there is a good chance you can complete it abroad!
Doing a traineeship abroad is an unique opportunity to experience a different work culture from the inside during your studies at INN. It provides valuable reflections that you can carry with you into your professional life. A broader perspective on your profession can also make you especially attractive to future employers.
If it is relevant for you to conduct fieldwork to gather data for your bachelor's or master's thesis, it may also be possible to do this abroad. Learn more about fieldwork opportunities during your studies further down this page.
How to go on a traineeship abroad?
If you have the option to complete a traineeship in Norway during your degree but wish to do it abroad, you are responsible for searching for and applying to potential internship sites yourself. If you wish to do your internship in Europe, you may qualify for an Erasmus+ grant. Contact the International Office for more information.
Note: Be aware that study programs have different application procedures and deadlines.
For more information about what happens after the application deadline, take a look at the Checklist for Traineeships Abroad.
Fieldwork abroad during your studies at INN
If you wish to collect data for your bachelor's or master's thesis abroad, this may be possible. First, the academic staff in your study program must approve that the fieldwork abroad will be part of your final thesis.
There are different funding categories, and you may qualify for more than one at the same time:
- Some research groups may have small funds available for fieldwork around the world. Contact the relevant research group for more information. This is particularly relevant for students at Evenstad.
- Support from Erasmus+ may be available for fieldwork in Erasmus+ countries if the stay lasts a minimum of 60 days (2 months). Note: Erasmus+ funding is not guaranteed.
- If your fieldwork lasts more than 4 weeks, you might be entitled to additional support from Lånekassen. This moslty applies to Norwegian students.
