About the instruction

The aim of this instruction is to provide information to examination candidates on how they should comply with the current examination regulations.

General for exams

1. Attendance and equipment requirements

It’s your responsibility to prepare yourself and your equipment as advised. You need to have your own computer for the exam. Make sure it meets the technical requirements for the exam system and that all needed software is installed and updated before exam day.

If you have technical issues because you didn’t prepare well enough, you won’t get extra time.

2. Illness and absence

If you can’t be at the exam, you need to provide a valid documentation of illness or strong welfare reasons. You must do this within a week after the exam. Valid absence does not count as an exam attempt and can provide access to a resit exam. The documentation must indicate that the absence applies to the exam day.

3. Withdrawing from the exam

You can choose to withdraw during the exam. This will count as an attempt if you don’t submit valid documentation within a week after the exam day.

Valid absence does not count as an exam attempt and can provide access to a resit exam.

4. Submitting a blank paper

You have the option to submit a blank paper. Blank submissions will be marked and count as an attempt.

5. Responsibility for your exam submission

It’s up to you to make sure you submit a complete exam answer in the right system, at the right time and in the right type of file. If you’re having trouble uploading your answer, contact your faculty’s study office straight away. After you’ve submitted your answer, please download the file from the exam system to make sure the file can be opened and appears as you intended.

6. Access your own submission

Your exam answers will usually be available in the exam system after the exam is finished. Your access to the exam system will expire once your studies are completed. If you want a copy of the exam answers, please download them from the exam system.

7. Plagiarism detection

All submissions are controlled by a plagiarism detection programme. Each candidate is responsible for understanding and following the rules of source use and reference technique. In group exams, all group members are mutually responsible for the content of the submission. Any form of collaboration is not permitted in individual exams.

8. Violations of regulations and rules

Violations of regulations and exam rules can be considered as cheating or attempted cheating, according to the regulations on admissions, studies, and examinations at University of Inland Norway. This can lead to the cancellation of the exam and exclusion from University of Inland Norway for up to two years. During the same period, one can lose the right to take exams at other Norwegian universities and colleges.
