About the instruction

The aim of this instruction is to provide information on what is expected of an exam invigilator and the rules that apply.

    1.Confidentiality

The exam invigilator must learn the current instruction for exam invigilators, main invigilators and for exam candidates. The exam invigilator has a duty of confidentiality about what happens in connections with the exam.

    2. Attendance and absence

Any absence should be reported well in advance to the study administration. The exam invigilator should arrive according to the times specified in the assigned schedule.

    3. Examination aids and permitted equipment

The exam invigilator is responsible for ensuring that the candidates do not have access to any aids other those permitted on the specific exam. Candidates cannot borrow aid from each other. The invigilator should be helpful and provide what the candidates are entitled to as quickly as possible.

Outwear, bags, purses and the like should be placed in the designated area before the exam starts. Mobile phones and other electronic devices not permitted in the exam should be turned off an out of reach for the candidate during the exam. Wristwatches are not allowed during the exam.

    4. Identification and signing

Together with the main invigilator, the exam invigilator must make sure that the candidates show valid ID, sign the candidate list, and get their candidate number.

    5. Late candidate

If a candidate comes to the exam room after the exam papers have been handed out, they should be sent to the main invigilator. If the candidate arrives within 30 minutes after the exam has started, they should be shown a please and allowed to take the exam like the other candidates, but without extra time. No candidate can leave the exam room before the candidate list is signed, and at least 30 minutes after the exam has started.

    6. Quiet and order

The exam invigilator should ensure quiet and order in the exam room so that the candidates have good working conditions. The invigilators should avoid unnecessary conversation with each other and not do anything that does not concern their service.

The exam invigilator should not eat in the exam room. The exam invigilator should ensure that there is no contact between the candidates, or that papers or anything else are passed or exchanged between the candidates.

    7. Suspected cheating

If the exam invigilator suspects cheating or an attempt to cheat, they should immediately alert the main invigilator.

    8. Breaks and toilet visits

The exam invigilator will accompany candidates if they want a break or need to use the toilet. Only one candidate is allowed to go out at a time. The invigilator must always keep track of the candidate and ensure they don't contact anyone else during the break. The invigilator will show which toilet can be used and may be asked to check the room before or after use. The invigilator should be reserved and let the candidate choose whether to start a conversation or not.

    9. Candidates with extra time

When the normal exam time is up, the exam invigilator must ensure that candidates who have been granted extra time still have a quiet working environment. The invigilator must prevent any disturbance in the room when the exam ends and answers are handed in

    10. Handing in paper submissions

When handing in the answer, the candidate stays at their desk until all papers are submitted. Only when the submission is ready should the invigilator check that all exam papers are correctly filled out with subject code, candidate number, and date, and that the pages are numbered, and the answer contains the number of sheets the candidate has stated.

The candidate must then leave the exam room immediately. A submitted answer should under no circumstances be returned to the candidate.

The answer with the subject code, candidate number, page number/total pages, and date must be handed in two copies. This also applies to candidates who use a computer as individual special arrangement in the exam.

    11. Handing in digital submissions

When submitting a digital exam answer, the candidate must tell an invigilator that they have submitted. The invigilator asks the main invigilator to confirm that the submission is registered in the exam system.
