Guideline for retaking an exam after cheating

This guideline regulates retaking an exam after cheating. For all legal purposes, the original guideline in Norwegian is the authoritative version.

About the guideline

The aim of this guideline is to describe additional provisions about examinations.

1. Number of examination attempts

An examination that is cancelled due to cheating counts as one attempt in accordance with the regulations on admission, studies and examinations § 6-5 third paragraph.

2. Submission

A student who has had a master's thesis, bachelor's thesis or equivalent independent work (specialisation assignment, research and development assignment, project assignment or similar), or an assignment with a self-chosen topic cancelled due to cheating, cannot submit an improved version of the assignment with the same topic.

In special cases, the faculty may allow the student to use collected data material as the basis for a new assignment with a new topic.

3. Requirements for supervision

If supervision is provided for a major independent work, and the student writes a new assignment after the first assignment is cancelled, the student will be entitled to supervision.
