1. What is semester registration
The semester fee consists of a fee to the Student Welfare Organization in Innlandet (SINN), Kopinor fee, ICT fee, and a contribution to the Student and Academics International Assistance Fund (SAIH) for the autumn semester and the Namibia Association for the spring semester.
Students must pay the semester fee to gain student rights in accordance with the Regulations on Admission, Studies, and Examinations at Inland Norway University and to be reported to public agencies. The fee to SINN helps to finance the welfare offers that SINN provides.
- The size of the fee to the welfare organization is determined by the board of SINN and approved by the department.
- The size of the fees for ICT and Kopinor is determined by the Finance Department.
- The size of the fees for SAIH and the Namibia Association is determined by the Student Organization in Innlandet.
Every person who signs up for an exam has a duty to pay the semester fee, cf regulations on student welfare organizations.
The education plan is an overview of which subjects are included in the study program and which semester these subjects are carried out. Formally, the education plan is a mutually binding agreement between the student and the university.
2. Responsibility and Anchoring
The Student Welfare Organization Act provides a legal basis for all students to pay the semester fee to the student welfare organization.
The Study Department is responsible for collecting the fees before the start of the semester. The students themselves are responsible for paying the semester fee in order to be registered as a student.
The Finance Department is responsible for transferring fees to the Student Welfare Organization, the Student Academic and International Assistance Fund, and the Namibia Association.
3. Semester registration
Students themselves generate an invoice for the semester fee in Studentweb at the beginning of each semester. The semester fee to SINN, ICT fee, contributions to SAIH/Namibia Association, and KOPINOR fee are fixed for all students.
Semester registration must be completed within the set deadline for the students to be registered for teaching and assessment, and gain access to the IT systems.
4. Refund of the semester fee
Students who are registered with the student status "Withdrawn", "Finished", "Completed", "Revoked" or "Expelled" by September 1 for the autumn semester and by February 1 for the spring semester and have paid semester fees, will automatically be refunded the paid semester fee without application.
Students who have paid the semester fee to several student welfare organizations must apply for a refund by September 1 for the autumn semester and February 1 for the spring semester.
Students who are registered with the student status "Withdrawn", "Finished", "Completed", "Revoked" or "Expelled" after the specified deadlines for refund, or are registered with the student status "Leave of Absence", will not be refunded the paid fees.
5. What when the student does not pay the semester fee
According to the Regulations on Admission, Studies, and Examination at University of Inland Norway, the student loses the right to study and the right to take exams if the semester fee is not paid within the set deadline.
Students who have lost their study rights due to non-payment of the semester fee, and who wish to resume their studies, must apply for this.
6. Exemptions of the provisions on payment of the semester fee
Students who are admitted to studies at several educational institutions must pay the student welfare organization at the educational institution where most credits are taken, cf. This provision does not apply to the KOPINOR fee, ICT fee, and contributions to SAIH/Namibia Association.
The contribution to the Student and Academics International Assistance Fund (SAIH) and the contribution to the Namibia Association are voluntary and can therefore be deducted from the invoice amount, cf. the student welfare organization law § 10.
