Registration for examinations
Registration for ordinary exams happens automatically when you confirm your study plan during the semester registration in Studentweb.
To be eligible to take the exam, all compulsory activities and prerequisite requirements must be approved and passed. The semester fee for the current semester must also be paid before you can take the exam.
If you need to take a resit exam, retake an ordinary exam you must register for assessment in Studentweb by clicking on the the "Retake Subject" button in the semester you first took the subject.
For registration for the submission of bachelor’s and master’s theses after a fail or valid absence, you need to contact your faculty.

Registration deadline for ordinary examinations
- October 1st for the autumn semester
- March 1st for the spring semester
Exceptions to these deadlines are for exams held before the ordinary registration deadline; in such cases, the deadline is one month before the exam.

For courses that are prerequisites for courses in the following semester, the registration deadline is set to August 15th for the autumn semester and January 15th for the spring semester.

Cancellation of registration to examinations
Cancellation is done in Studentweb, and the deadline is 14 days before the exam.
If you need to complete compulsory activities but not take the exam, you must notify the study administration at your faculty after withdrawing your assessment registration in Studentweb. This is important to ensure that your coursework requirements are recorded as approved if you plan to take the exam at a later date.
Number of examination attempts
You are allowed to register for an exam in a course for a maximum of three times. The university may grant an exception for a fourth exam attempt under special circumstances. You must apply specifically for this, and such applications should be submitted via the online form for secure file submission. Separate rules apply for practical training and major student assignments, such as bachelor’s and master’s theses.
It counts as one exam attempt if you do not cancel your registration before the cancellation deadline, do not show up for the exam, and do not submit a valid medical certificate within one week. The same applies if you withdraw during the exam or submit a blank answer.
Which grade applies?
If you retake an examination, the highest grade will apply.
