Professor Baillet is UN international expert on human rights and international solidarity and a recognised authority in international law, human rights and peace.
Summary: All around the world we have witnessed solidarity marches for peace, protection of the environment, and women’s rights. The UN Secretary General calls for recognition of solidarity as a means by which to address global threats, including climate change, inequality, health emergencies, corruption, gender violence, etc. There is currently an initiative to promote a Draft Declaration on International Solidarity. As a third generation right- it is an enabling right and duty that applies to states, corporations, international organizations, and civil society. How do we support a pro homine solidarity in an epoch marked by increased polarization and securitization within societies.
