About the project

This project seeks to strengthen the knowledge and capacity of institutions and individuals to transform practices that promote sustainability and quality education in alignment with the SDGs, with the focus on:

1) whole-institution approaches in ESD,

2) ESD pedagogies for sustainability competencies, and

3) learning assessment for ESD.

The project will empower education stakeholders, foster innovative teaching practices, and facilitate the integration of sustainability principles in educational institutions and systems.

The project supports UNESCOs ESD for 2030 Roadmap (UNESCO, 2020), together with the newly adopted Recommendation on Education for Peace, Human Rights and Sustainable Development (UNESCO, 2023). A team of authors have prepared three guidance tools on the selected topics. During an Action Research component, several institutions including UNESCO Associated Schools (ASPNet), UNESCO Chairs, higher education institutions, and UNESCO offices in 10 countries will actively apply and test these guidance tools to support their further refinement and development.
