Did you know that...

  • Eight out of ten companies have introduced innovations in the last two years, and this also applies to companies outside of metropolitan regions.
  • Approximately half of companies have implemented some form of green innovations.
  • Over 80 percent of companies believe that digitization is positive for productivity.

These are just a few findings from the research and development project REDINN, which has focused on regional development and innovation outside of metropolitan regions in recent years.

Wrapping up REDINN

REDINN is an abbreviation for Regional dynamics and innovation capabilities in non-metropolitan contexts and is funded by the Savings Bank Foundation Hedmark, which aims to contribute to growth and development in the Inland Norway region.

The project is now in its final phase, and it provides an opportunity to summarize and look back on four years.

"We have managed to build a solid academic environment around regional development and innovation over the past few years," says project leader Professor Atle Hauge. "We have also established a research culture that is internationally oriented."

In addition, the project group has already published nearly 40 peer-reviewed articles in national and international journals.

A preliminary list of publications can be found here: https://redinn.no/publications-from-redinn/

Use of findings

The REDINN team has also been around Inland Norway to 'take the temperature' of the business sector and hear from them how they envision developments in the coming years. The knowledge from the quantitative and qualitative studies will now be used, among other things, to provide input for policy development that can create growth and attractive districts.
