This decision was unanimously made during a board meeting on Wednesday.
– The entire board is committed to supporting the academic communities we have in film and television, which are now part of a new faculty. We aim to strengthen collaboration with the cultural and business sectors in Lillehammer, the region, and acres the country. This can be achieved through establishing a presence in Science Park Lillehammer, says Chairperson of the Board, Maren Kyllingstad.
– Additionally, this move allows us to develop Storhove for other academic communities and create a more modern and integrated campus in the long term, she continues.
New building near the town centre
The primary candidates for relocation to InSP’s planned new building near Lillehammer town centre are the Faculty of Film, TV, and Games (FTVS), including The Norwegian Film School and The TV School.
– For our faculty, there has long been a need to modernise parts of our facilities. It is desirable to bring together the academic communities for film and television, fostering strong professional development and reducing the distance to the games-related community in Hamar. We will now focus on specific designs in collaboration with staff, students, and other partners. This could bring renewed energy to our strong environments, says Dean Leif Holst Jensen of the Faculty of Film, TV, and Games.
– It was encouraging to hear the board's support and commitment to the faculty. We believe this could have positive ripple effects for the entire university and the film and TV industry, he continues.
InSP expanding to multiple locations
The Sparebankstiftelsen Hedmark foundation has established the Innlandet Science Park foundation to promote innovation in the region.
A Science Park brings together higher education, research, entrepreneurs, knowledge companies, investors, and public actors under one roof to facilitate collaboration and innovation.
The university aims to be an active participant in InSP, which is expanding to Hamar, Kongsvinger, Lillehammer, and Elverum.
Previously, a collaboration agreement was signed with Innlandet Science Park in Hamar, although no concrete lease agreement has been finalised yet.
