It was a historic moment when 'Drømmer' won the Golden Bear this weekend: never before has a Norwegian film won the prestigious award.

On the red carpet was producer Hege Hauff Hvattum, a former student at the TV School. She studied in Lillehammer between 2012 and 2015. Since then, she has produced several feature films and TV dramas. Now, she has co-produced the trilogy of films 'Sex', 'Drømmer', and 'Kjærlighet' together with Yngve Sæther.

Competing against 19 other films from around the world, 'Drømmer' won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.

– It is absolutely surreal and incredibly exciting, says Hvattum from the airport on her way back to Norway.

Important years at the TV School

Hvattum looks back fondly on her three years of studies in Lillehammer. She attended the bachelor's course on project and production management for documentary and TV.

– My years at the TV School were important for me. I learned a lot from brilliant lecturers, built valuable connections that I have worked with later, and gained plenty of hands-on experience. It is a fantastic study environment for those who want to accopmplish things.

She also got involved in productions at The Norwegian Film School, which is located next door to the TV School at Storhove in Lillehammer.

– I had the opportunity to assist with several projects there. At both schools, students have to take the initiative to get the most out of their education. That worked well for me, and I would love to see more collaboration between the two schools, she says.

Several former students from The Norwegian Film School have also been involved in the production. Among them is Cecilie Semec, who graduated from the film school in 2004. She has also worked as a photography lecturer and is currently a research fellow at the film school.

She was the director of photography for 'Drømmer'.

Yvonne Stenberg was responsible for the film’s sound design. She attended the film school from 2013 to 2016.

The film Drømmer tells the story of a 17-year-old who falls in love with their teacher. More about the film can be found on the festival’s website.
