The delegation met with representatives from the rectorate, the Faculty of Education (LUP), and the Faculty of Social and Health and Sciences (HSV) during their visit. Everyone hopes this will lead to a fruitful collaboration in the future.
The South African delegation consisted of ten representatives: two directors (for research and internationalisation), three researchers in language and education, four researchers in health sciences, and an international coordinator.
During their visit, the delegation had the opportunity to meet many potential collaborators at INN, both centrally and within LUP and HSV. At a later stage, the Inland School of Business and Social Sciences (HHS) and the Faculty of Applied Ecology, Agricultural Sciences and Biotechnology (ALB) might also be involved in the collaboration, as the University of Limpopo has academic fields that align with these faculties.
The programme included presentations from both institutions on education and research, guided tours of the two campus areas and Hamar city, ample time for academic discussions in groups to develop concrete collaboration ideas, and a workshop with INN’s research advisor Andrew Davidson and Laila Lossius from the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills to explore possible funding opportunities.
Other highlights included a visit to the Future Classroom Lab and a tour of Rollsløkken School in Hamar, as well as clinic and hospital visits in Elverum and Hamar. The delegation, Pro-Rector for Education Stine Grønvold, Vice-Dean for Education Gunhild Alstad (LUP), Vice-Dean for Education Trine Bjerva (HSV), and the project teams from LUP and HSV, also enjoyed a dinner at Egon together.
This visit has laid a solid foundation for further collaboration, with the aim of establishing an official agreement between the institutions in the near future.
