Comparative and International perspectives in Nordic Education

The Studies in profession, learning and politics (SPLP) research group at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences would like to warmly welcome you to join us for the seminar Comparative and International perspectives in Nordic Education.

The seminar will take place on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, from 09:15 to 15:30 in Auditorium 2 at the Hamar campus. The seminar is for academics and students who are interested in finding out more about methodological approaches used in comparative and international research.

Comparative and International Education (CIE) is a vast, rich, diverse and growing field of inquiry that is concerned with the academic study of a wide range of key educational issues and themes across cultures, countries and regions. CIE is concerned with the interplay of local, national, regional, and global contexts shaping education. Almost any research interest can be viewed through an international and/or comparative lens.

For example:

  • global education policy
  • citizenship and human rights education
  • students’ and teachers’ identities
  • learning and teachinginternational policy transfer and borrowing
  • international large-scale assessments
  • effects of gender, race and social class on learning and achievement
  • migration and education
  • textbook research
  • parental choice
  • international schools and intercultural education
  • education in the Global South
  • research methods in international and comparative education
