SPE1009/1 Participation, Inclusion and Justice – implications for education and social work


Learning outcomes

  • The student will be able to critically examine the implications of disability for education and social work, in light of participation, inclusion and justice.
  • The student will have an in-depth understanding of the topic they have chosen as a specialization.
  • The student will be able to present and discuss the chosen topic both in writing and orally.


This course invites the students to reflect more in depth on how the interplay between the individual and his/her surroundings influence the lives of disabled people. Students should choose one topic of specialization within disability studies. This specialization might be related to a specific target group, a specific arena in society, or a specific program or intervention., On the basis of the goals of participation, inclusion and justice the students should critically examine the implications of disability for education or social work.

Arbeids- og undervisningsformer

Methods of instruction include individual tutoring, seminar work, group work and oral presentations.

Compulsory work requirements:

  • Participation in seminars
  • One oral presentation .
